What is counselling?

When life throws challenges at us that feel overwhelming to navigate on our own, counselling can offer you some space to pause, breathe and gain a little clarity. It is a supportive and collaborative process that can help you make sense of what you are experiencing, whether that relates to something happening in your life now, your past experiences, or both.

Counselling can give you the opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences in greater depth and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and how you relate to the world around you. It can also help you recognise patterns, discover new perspectives and explore different ways of being, so that change can begin to feel possible.

Counselling isn't about being given advice or being told how to fix your situation. It's about working together to build a relationship based on trust, respect and openness, where you can explore what is happening for you without judgement.

You don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about, or even be able to put into words what you're feeling. Sometimes simply having someone really listen can be the first step towards understanding what is going on.

My hope is that therapy can provide a space where you feel heard, accepted and understood — where you can be curious about yourself, explore what may be difficult, and begin to find your own way forward.
